About NIYAF.COM
This is my home on the internet; medical and otherwise. It is kind of an aggregator site which pools all my online activity to one page - my home on the internet.
About Myself
I am a Maldivian. I live with my wife (Aishath Nazneen) and kids (Nabhan and Naufan) in Male’, Maldives.
Medical Practice
I am a Paediatrician. I currently work at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, the premier tertiary care referral hospital in Maldives and Lifeline Medicals, a private medical service provider in Male’.
I completed my Under-graduate medical training from Punjab University in Pakistan and then Post-graduated in Paediatrics from University of Melbourne, Australia.
The main areas of clinical interest for me are the care of newborn infants and Thalassaemia. I am particularly interested in enhancing Neonatal Intensive Care Services and strengthening newborn care networking across the country.
I am also a UNICEF certified trainer in Breastfeeding Couseling and Lactation Management, a trainer in Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses and also a WHO certified trainer in Essential Newborn Care. In addition I am involved in conducting national level training programs on Neonatal Resiscitation.
History of my presence on the internet
In September 2004 after spending several months communicating with patients and their relatives via emails on various medical topics, I was given the idea of operating a website for the same purpose. I liked the idea and setup my ONLINE OFFICE.
Over time the idea has grown and I have now registered my own domain. The website has expanded to include a main personal website, a medical blog and a site enhanced for mobile devices.
On my medical blog, Dr Niyaf’s Online Clinic, I have decidedly concentrated on topic related to my speciality but continue to provide general guidance for anyone who asks about medical issues outside of my field.
This home page NIYAF.COM also collects my work on Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and my own photo-hosting website. I have recently included links to medical journal content that I regularly read.
