The Maldivian Medical Association and medical institutions in Maldives have begun activities to mark the Maldivian Doctors’ Day 2008.  The day falls on the 18th of April and is the day, many years ago, when the first-ever Maldivian medical doctor (Dr ND Abdulla) joined public service.

This year, the 3rd year of celebration in the Maldives, acivities are already underway and include a futsal tournament among medical workers in the Maldives. Private medical centers, IGMH and ADK hospital are assisting the Maldivian Medical Association in this years activities.

 The final match of the futsal tournament is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 5pm at the Futsal Ground and will be a match between The Chiefs Team (which includes doctors and staff from IGMH and ADK) and CCCP Team (a team comprising of Maldivian medical graduates from Russia and a senior administrator of ADK Hospital). The Chiefs team is tipped to win the tournament, as they did last year.

A semi-official function is also planned for the night of the 18th of April.
