At the beginning of the year I had 76 days of accumulated annual leave. Recently, before the civil service law came into effect, I took 13 days from that to travel to the Atolls for unofficial work. Now, I have been told, under the new rules, I have only 17 days of my annual leave remaining!!!

My protests, as expected, fell on deaf ears. I was told that I’d be paid for the “cancelled leave” with July salary.

I am told that there was some negotiations with CSC regarding this very issue and that a final decision would be made shortly.

I did request my employers, IGMH, to kindly not send leave compensation money to my account as I would prefer, if at all possible, to have the leave rather than the money.

This was a big blow for me, and others like me, who had plans to take an extended leave later this year.
