The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia had issued, in June 2023, a Safety Alert on Ayurvedic medicine Multani Kaminividravana Rasa tablets, popularly known as Kamini. It is marketed as a powerful aphrodisiac that increases vigor and vitality. These are often obtained via overseas internet sites.

Testing had found that it contains a number of ingredients that are known dangerous poisons, including heavy metals and dependence inducing opioids.

TGA noted that a similar advisory was issued for similar Kamini products in 2016 and raised concern that many other brands of Kamini tablets with similar ingredient profiles may exist.

I am relaying this advisory in Maldives, with the hope that any Maldivian who may have come across this or similar products could be guided to avoid taking them altogether. If anyone has consumed it, they are urged to seek medical advice.
